The Labor Day weekend marks beginnings and endings. The lazy days of summer are winding down, kids are heading back to school, temperatures are changing. Go ahead, give into the urge to reflect on the days passed. Just scroll through the myriad of photos, posts and texts collected these past weeks, it quickly becomes evident that family, friends and the time shared is the theme for Summer 2015.

Our focus is now slowly shifting to the season upon us - holidays, family gatherings, and of course football! We’ve been busy in the kitchen creating new menu items to welcome the new season and preparing for the return of our winter visitors. The Labor Day weekend typically kicks off the NFL and College Football seasons, tailgates, parties and celebrations abound. We look forward to game days and the chance to reconnect with family and friends. And so we embrace this one last chance to savor summer, to be in the moment, filling the weekend with last minute travel, barbecues, parties, and time spent remembering the memories created over the past 3 months.
It is with all of this in mind that we ‘kickoff’ our new blog, Eat * Drink * Live. We built Shlomo & Vito’s on the very idea that family, friends and food create the foundation for a happy life. This blog, will offer suggestions for entertaining, daily activities, healthy alternatives, happenings in our dessert paradise and news from the Deli itself. Along with random thoughts and notes from our Deli family. You’ll enjoy getting to know our Deli family. In fact, this past weekend one of our bartenders, noted that she considered our Deli her family, dysfunctional, a bit crazy and one she couldn’t imagine not having in her life. We absolutely love that analogy because it speaks to the heart of who we are and what we continue to bring to Tucson and it makes us especially proud!

We are excited to introduce our new Director of Catering, Justin Fernandez. Justin is a Tucson native and an incredibly active member of our community. In addition to being a father and philanthropist he is the co-founder of the Latin Flamenco rock group Tesoro. Justin is bringing such fabulous energy to his new position and to our Deli family, we couldn’t be happier! This Labor Day weekend, after he’s delivered his last catering of the day, you can find him performing with Tesoro

We will be open all weekend, introducing some really cool new additions to our menu, back to regular hours and ready to have some fun with you as we say goodbye to Summer 2015!
Always~
